As part of the NT Connections Festival 2017, this year’s performance by The John Lyon School is Zero for the Young Dudes!, a piece of new writing commissioned by the National Theatre and written by Alistair McDowall. Performances will take place in the Boyd Campbell Hall on Thursday 23rd and Friday 24th March and will commence at 7.30pm on both days. NT Connections is the National Theatre’s nationwide youth theatre festival, the largest on the planet. Each year it offers a unique opportunity for youth theatres and school theatre groups to stage new plays written for young people by some of theatre’s most exciting playwrights, and to perform in leading theatres across the UK. Zero for the Young Dudes! is one of ten new plays for 2017 especially commissioned for young people.
This exciting and energetic piece of theatre is performed by a large ensemble cast and is based in a bizarre summer camp where the inmates are planning a revolution – or has it already happened? The play spends a day in their life, watching their schedule of exercise, lessons and meals, while a long history of unrest and injustice lies hidden, and as the day wears on, a violent future looms large on the horizon.
We would like to cordially invite all parents, friends and family to purchase tickets from the school office or by emailing email@example.com directly. Tickets will cost £3 for adults and £2 for concessions.
