Staff at The John Lyon School are genuinely committed to the success of the pupils. Their enthusiasm and scholarly ability is infectious and able to open up a plethora of learning opportunities in and beyond the classroom. Pupils are actively encouraged to awaken and develop their desire to learn and ask questions of the subjects they are being taught. Our outstanding examination results at GCSE and A Level are testament to both the highly qualified staff and the hardworking pupils and reflect the academic nature of our school.

Every boy is important to the members of staff who teach him; they work rigorously to develop his potential for success. Not only is our curriculum broad and varied but the facilities we offer also ensure that learning is engaging and active. By keeping class sizes small throughout the school, we make certain that every boy will noticed, taught to the highest standards, supported if he should require it and leave The John Lyon School proud of what he has achieved and fully equipped for life beyond the school environment.

Boys are taught a diverse curriculum at Key Stage 3 before moving onto studying both core and optional subjects at GCSE. Four AS Level subjects are studied at Key Stage 5, supplemented by Critical Thinking and the Extended Project as appropriate.
