A Welcome from the Sixth Form
Updated: Wed 22 May 2013
For many pupils, the Sixth Form is the most challenging, the most memorable and the most enjoyable period of their school careers. At the John Lyon School, we help our Sixth Form students develop to the best of their abilities in a community which is designed to help them become increasingly independent in all aspects of their life whilst at the same time providing them with the support to guide them as they make the transition from school to university.
Sixth form pupils regularly achieve places at their first choice universities, often on demanding courses.

The timetable is created around the pupils’ subject choices, enabling each boy to follow an academic programme which suits both their interests and their strengths. Alongside this, the cultural, sporting and social opportunities which the School offers, and in which members of the Sixth Form are encouraged to take a lead, mean that our students leave the John Lyon School not only as academically confident young men but fulfilled and well-rounded individuals. They are well-prepared for the next stage of their lives, which, for the majority, is the university course of their choice.
The new, purpose built Sixth Form Centre, opened in September 2012, gives the senior students a greater sense of identity and places them at the heart of the School. It includes a dedicated Sixth Form work space with state of the art IT facilities, as well as a space for relaxation, and provides all the resources the students will need to make a success of their time with us.
