Training Schedule
  • Y Liewedd, Snowdonia - open hill area, leading to hands on rock scrambling taking the boys to a ridge and severe edges (December 2010)
  • Tryfan, Snowdonia - All rock and hands-on scrambling with large open space and short vertical sections (May 2011)
  • Saas Grund and Saas Fe - Alpine climbing with experience of working at Altitude, gaining the use of crampons and ice-axe arrest also experience crevasse rescue using ice-axe climb on a belay. (July 2011)
  • Carnedd Mountains Snowdonia - Isolation training and carrying full packs over distance and on steep ground - using various food types (October 2011)
  • Brecon Winter training - Using MSR stoves with petrol as fuel and Mountain House dehydrated food practicing wild camping at -5 degrees, in snow condition carrying full packs over small distance then climbing peaks simulating a Greenland Experience (December 2011)
  • Snowdonia - Snow and ice practice the exact location will be determined by the snow and ice content (January / February 2012)
  • Scotland remote mountain training bringing together all of the learning experiences (April 2012)
  • (One pupil Conor Taylor experienced ascent of Kala Patthar, Nepal 5634 metres overlooking Everest Base Camp a 17 day trek in April 2011)
