Lion King sings with Lion Cubs

Our Chamber Choir and Year 6 pupils were treated to a superb singing workshop with the incredible singer, actor and songwriter, Roger Wright. Roger has performed in leading roles in many smash hit West End musicals, and was the very first man to play the adult Simba in the original West End cast of The Lion King.

Pupils took part in singing workshop with Roger as they worked through the song ‘Circle of Life’.  The Chamber Choir also worked on their current repertoire of the Scottish folk song ‘Skye Boat Song’, and ‘You’ve got a friend’, by the marvellous Carol King.

In addition to this, pupils enjoyed listening to Roger talk about how he landed the prestigious role of Simba in the original cast of Lion King at the Lyceum Theatre, his experiences working as a fashion model, his passion and influences in music as well as his journey through an array of leading roles in London’s West End theatre scene.

We were also very lucky to hear him sing his favourite song from the Lion King, ‘He lives in me’, as well as ‘Bring him home’, from the musical Les Misérables.  The session finished with a Q&A, and there were some very interesting and thoughtful questions asked by our pupils.

What an amazing opportunity this was for our pupils.  They were thoroughly engaged and entertained throughout and it was a great pleasure and honour to have Roger at Quainton Hall.
