Inspiring Goldhawk talk delivered by Keval Patel (OL 2015)

It was truly inspiring to hear Keval Patel (OH 2015) talk about his journey to pursuit a career in professional football from the age of 12.

Whilst studying his A-Levels at John Lyon, Keval completed a Scholarship at Stevenage Football Club, then in 2018 he began his Undergraduate degree in Psychology (BSc) at the University of Nottingham.

Keval shared with our Sixth Form students the challenges he faced, including rejection, performance anxiety, and a serious knee injury, which ultimately led him to study Psychology.  He subsequently completing his MSc in Applied Sport Psychology in 2019 and setting-up KNP Sport Psychology Ltd. Keval is now a Performance Psychologist working predominantly in the field of elite sport – with a purpose to help athletes of all levels reach their performance goals by upgrading their mindset through applying psychology to training and competition.

Our students were highly engaged and left with valuable insights on improving decision-making, managing anxiety and stress, and shaping behaviour and mindset. These are skills applicable not only to sports but also to their academic and career journeys.

Keval thanked John Lyon for their support and said: “The School is a special place and all the experiences I gained here helped me become who I am today.”
