Pupils enjoy new Forest School

Year 1 had a brilliant half term attending Forest School at John Lyon’s Sudbury Fields. They have enjoyed a huge variety of activities including making hammocks, cooking popcorn over a fire, climbing trees, making soap using conkers, learning the names of different trees and birds in the environment and painting with sticks and mud.

The specialist Forest School teachers have been so impressed with how much the children have developed in such a short space of time. They report how the children are now so much more confident in the environment and are much more willing to try new activities and take risks. The Year 1 teachers have also noticed the impact this has had on the children’s academic learning in the classroom.
