Estates Officer
The John Lyon School’s estate comprises a number of buildings ranging from mid-18th Century to recent constructions at both the senior and prep school sites. Several of the school buildings are listed and fall within two different conservation areas. Recent developments have taken place to a number of the buildings with over £12m being spent on new build, renovation and refurbishment. Whereas the new and refurbished buildings require careful maintenance and control of the building management systems, upkeep of the other buildings relies on planned maintenance regimes and replacement of long-standing systems and fittings.
We are seeking to appoint a suitably experienced and proactive individual to join the Estates Team. The Estates Officer will assist with the completion of planned maintenance, emergency repairs, caretaking, security, event set-ups, and property upkeep. The successful individual will have basic general maintenance skills but a qualification in a specific trade for example plumbing, electrical or carpentry would be advantageous. The post holder will be expected to use their own initiative and coordinate with other team members to ensure that routine and non-routine tasks are carried out and resolved with a timely can-do approach.
Candidates must also demonstrate good communication and organisational skills and be comfortable liaising with staff, pupils, parents, contractors and other third party users of the School’s buildings and facilities. The successful candidate must possess a valid, clean driving licence.
