World Book Day

In celebration of World Book Day on Thursday 6 March, pupils brought the magic of literature to life as they came in dressed in a fantastic array of characters from their favourite books. This year’s theme, ‘Read Your Way’, encourages everyone to embrace the joy of reading by letting go of expectations, was central to all the activities our pupils from Nursery to Year 6 took part in.

Year 10 pupils Aly, Fathima and Amaroo from the Senior School led an engaging assembly for the Prep School community, discussing their favourite books and highlighting the importance of reading. It was a fantastic way to start the day, as the younger pupils thoroughly enjoyed learning from their older peers.

Throughout the rest of the day, pupils took part in many other activities, such as making bookmarks, designing characters, creating book covers and lots of discussions about their favourite books. Pupils also took part in cross-year group reading, which was a great opportunity for them to pair up with different age groups and enjoy reading together in a relaxed and informal setting.

It was great to have so many parents and guardians involved for World Book Day, with several of them joining us during the week to read to pupils during breaktimes and lunchtimes. Mrs Chatrath, Head of Prep also took the opportunity to share her favourite stories with the pupils. Head of School, Mrs Hardy also visited the Prep School to read to the pupils. These sessions were a big hit, bringing joy to the pupils and fostering a real sense of community.
